Limitations

  • It reads public manufacturer registers and the VIN's own type code. Engine, fuel, transmission, body, drivetrain, colour and equipment need a full VIN decode.
  • Vehicles never registered in the United States are identified by marque, plant and type code rather than by a full specification list.
  • If no public register recognises the VIN, the preview returns nothing and a full decode may still find it.

Individual vehicle records, not a comprehensive accident, title or ownership report. Missing records do not prove a clean history.
